How it all began

In 1997 my husband and I purchased 80 acres of land which had nothing on it but alfalfa. Our dream was to put in a big organic garden and to eventually build an energy efficient home on the property. Over the years, we put in our garden, built several sheds, put up a greenhouse, planted shelter belt trees, had two wells dug, fenced in the pasture, put in a driveway, cleaned up old barbed wire fences, and made many other improvements to the property while we were living in town and driving back and forth. In the meantime, we were investigating many energy efficient houses and my husband was creating various floor plans with the computer aided design program on his computer.

Finally, in 2005, we decided to build a Monolithic Dome and we had found a company that would build the shell for us. That was exactly what we wanted.
